Deputy Commissioner ordered that all schools affiliated to PSEB, CBSE and ICSE Board will be closed till July 12 under Section 144 of the CrPC owing to the ongoing power crisis.

“Strict action will be taken against any school which did not impliment the orders,” he said.

After receiving a message from the control room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office , these schools were, however, forced to abide by the orders.

A few schools had declared holiday for students till Class V but continued to function for senior students.

School principal said: “We have the facility of gensets to combat the power cuts. The government should close down only those schools which do not have alternate arrangements. As closing schools will only affect the study of students.”

The schools will reopen on July 13.
