The Central Board of Secondary Education and the National Book Trust [NBT] are committed to improving students’ scholastic and co-scholastic achievement levels and, a step in this direction is promoting the importance of reading books. Here, teachers, school librarians and parents should motivate children to enjoy reading, and enable them to read a wide range of good quality literature. NBT, publishes books in English, Hindi and regional languages that are age-appropriate, competitively priced and made readily available through the Book Fairs and exhibitions held throughout the country.

These events also give teachers, librarians and children an opportunity for interaction with authors, publishers and book-sellers, besides students’ presentations, conducted throughout the country. As a part of its book promotional activities, the NBT has been organising the New Delhi World Book Fair for the last 40 years.

The next edition of the Book Fair is the largest in the Afro-Asian region. Singapore has been accorded the Guest of Honour Country status this year and the Focus Country is South Korea. The theme is: North-East Writers and their Writing.
