GSEB Class IX Syllabus

The mathematics and science syllabus for class IX will be changed from the next academic year. The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board ( GSHSEB) move comes with an aim to bring the course at par with that of Central Board of Secondary Education ( CBSE).

The board announced about the change of syllabus during a two-day training programme for teachers which was concluded on Saturday at Gujarat Council of Educational Research and Training, Gandhinagar. Blueprints for textbooks for new syllabus, which will come into effect from June, 2011, are already prepared.

"Blueprint of the textbooks has been sent to subject experts who will send their feedback by the end of February. The subject is 90% on the lines of CBSE and has been prepared to upgrade the level of education in the state. The revised textbooks will be available in markets in May," said a senior GSHEB official. The board has also decided to change the mathematics and science syllabus from June 2012.

"The board has also decided on a comprehensive evaluation for class IX wherein along with academics, students will also be evaluated on their performance in extra curricular activities. Gujarat will be the 19th state in the country to introduce such evaluation," added the official.
