SSLC Answer Sheets
More than 1200 answer scripts of Hindi examinations of the tenth standard were destroyed in a fire at the Baseveshwara Government School here. The fire was caused by a spark during a welding job being undertaken closeby the hall where the answer sheets were stored, officials said.
Officials at the SSLC Examination Board said today that a re-examination might be conducted at the centres from were the answer scripts had arrived. Around a dozen bundles each containing 100 answer scripts were destroyed and these were the papers that was set for valuation on April 18. The remaining answer scripts havee been shifted to a safer place.
Shimoga District Deputy Commissioner V Ponnuraj said an inquiry would be ordered into the cause of the fire. The destruction of answer sheets had set panic among parents and students as many of the students had joined coaching classes for further studies and others would have tavelled to different places for their vacation. Assembling all these students might be a problem according to a parent.
